It’s that time of year.

That’s right; while many North American youth hockey teams are gearing up for league playoffs as we move deeper into February, for one of the top Tier 1 USA Boys leagues the postseason begins this weekend.

The Northeast Pack, which calls six teams that regularly compete for USA Hockey National championships members, hosts its playoffs Friday through Sunday in Utica, N.Y. Six teams will vie for NE Pack titles at the 14U and 15O age levels, while five will face off in the 16U and 18U divisions.

Play gets underway in the 16U age group at 8:15 Friday morning at the Utica University Nexus Center and concludes Sunday afternoon with the 1:15 p.m. 18U championship game. All Northeast Pack playoff games can be viewed via LiveBarn.

 The Northeast Pack was established prior to the 2019-20 season as a “compilation of prominent youth hockey organizations that share a vision for player-focused development,” according to the league’s website.

This regionally based hockey league brought some of the Northeast's highest-rated players and organizations together to compete in regular-season weekend events throughout the season.

Northeast Pack 14U Playoffs

The NE Pack 14U division includes four of the top-eight teams in the U.S., according to the latest MYHockey rankings: No. 2 Mount St. Charles, No. 3 Pittsburgh Penguins Elite, the No. 5 Mid-Fairfield Jr. Rangers and No. 8 Bishop Kearney Selects. The 20^th-ranked New Jersey Rockets and No. 58 Long Island Gulls round out the field.

Each 14U team plays two games Friday to determine the semifinal seeds for Saturday. The 14U championship game will be contested at 11 a.m. EST Sunday.

Each 16U team plays two games Friday to determine the playoff seeds for Saturday. There will be a play-in game between the fourth and fifth seeds Saturday to determine the fourth semifinalist. The 16U championship game will be face off at 11:15 a.m. EST Sunday.
