USA Hockey District Tournament Tracker 2025: Final Tier 1 Nationals Bids Determined March 13-16

Updated March 17 at 1:15 p.m. EDT

March Mayhem officially is here, but in reality the youth hockey madness began in the United States the weekend of Feb. 20-23.

Now, after four weeks of state, local and district tournament play, the automatic bids for the USA Hockey Tier 1 National Championships all have been awarded. Congratulations to all the teams that have qualfield for Nationals!

Next, USA Hockey will fill the remaining open Nationals spots with at-large teams. That process is underway, which is why MYHockey's Week 26 rankings were released two days earlier than usual.

The first 2025 USA Hockey Youth and Girls National Championship berths were determined during that February weekend as we moved into state and district tournament season. Up first was the Pacific District Girls Tournament, which started Feb. 20 and ran through Sunday, Feb. 23, in Las Vegas.

In states like Minnesota and Massachusetts, which have high USA Hockey membership numbers and where high-school hockey is extremely popular, Nationals bids for most age groups are determined in the fall before the prep and high-school seasons commence. Other states that have high USA Hockey enrollment such as New York and Michigan also are afforded the opportunity to send their Tier 1 state champions to Nationals, but their tournaments are held at the end of their club seasons in February and March.

The rest of the country is divided into districts, with those districts receiving National Championship bids for their Youth and Girls champions at various age levels. As of March 16, all of the Tier 1 district tournaments had been completed.

Tier 2 National Championship berths are awarded to state champions.

USA Hockey National Championships are held for Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams at various locations around the country in April.

This year’s Tier 1 and 2 USA Hockey National Championships run from April 1-6.

In addition, USA Hockey High School National Championships are scheduled for March 26-30 in Irvine, Calif. The high school national championship tournament features four divisions –Division IA, Division 2A, 3A and Girls.
