Weekend Preview Feb. 13-16: MHT Presidents Cup Series Part of Huge Tourney Weekend That Includes NAPHL and T1EHL Playoffs
We’ve reached a crossroads for the 2025-26 North American youth hockey season.
It’s Presidents’ Day Weekend in the United States, making Feb. 13-16 the last big tournament weekend of the 2025-26 campaign. With Monday being a national holiday, many youth teams have hit the road to compete in large three- or four-day tournaments. Meanwhile, postseason play continues to heat up for other programs in leagues on both sides of the border, and we are now less than a week away from the first USA Hockey Tier 1 District Tournament of 2026.
As American and Canadian teams enter or continue postseason play – or compete in one final tune-up event to prepare for the stretch run – we begin our trip down the Road to Nationals in both countries.

The North American Tier1 Hockey League (NAPHL T1ER) Dixon Cup Playoffs are being held Feb. 13-16 in Troy, Mich. Play began the morning of Friday, Feb. 13, and run through Monday, Feb. 16, in Championship and Open divisions from ages 12U through 18U. Our focus is on the 13O, 14U, 15O, 16U and 18U divisions.
CarShield returns to defend its Dixon Cup titles in both the 18U and 16U Championship divisions, with the 18U team ranked ninth in the MHR Week 21 18U Boys Tier 1 Rankings. Philadelphia Hockey Club is back to defend its 15O championship as the nation’s No. 38 team, with Omaha Mastery and CarShield also looking to repeat at the 14U and 13O levels, respectively. Omaha is ranked 32nd, while CarShield checks in at No. 75.
The NAPHL is divided into three leagues: the T1ER, which is comprised only of USA Boys Tier 1 teams; the SHOW, which includes Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams; and the Fall League, which offers games in September and October.
Tier 1 USA Boys teams that compete in the NAPHL T1ER League are in Michigan for the playoffs Presidents’ Day Weekend, with more than 50 teams competing in the 13O, 14U, 15O, 16U and 18U Divisions. Preliminary-round play for most age levels concludes Feb. 14, with consolation games and semifinals set for Feb. 15 and championship games to be contested Feb. 16.
All games can be viewed live and on-demand at NAHLTV.com.
The NAPHL was developed in partnership with the North American Hockey League, the only sanctioned Tier 2 tuition-free junior league in the United States. The NAHL has had more than 400 players make NCAA commitments during each of the past two seasons, with about 75 percent of those commits moving to the Division I level.
Now in its 17th year, the NAPHL has established itself as one of the nation’s premier opportunities for player development and exposure. Nearly 100 players with NAPHL ties were drafted or tendered by Tier 2 North American Hockey League (NAHL) clubs in 2023, with 79 more drafted into the North American Tier 3 Hockey League (NA3HL). The NAPHL produced 24 United States Hockey League draft picks and boasted more than 200 alumni in the NAHL, more than 160 in the NA3HL and more than 40 in the USHL. Since 2020, no other USA Tier 1 league has seen more players advance to the NAHL.
With weekend showcase-style events that are operated by NAHL staff members – and often held in conjunction with NAHL and NA3HL events – the NAPHL provides professionally run, well-organized and highly scouted exposure opportunities for its teams and players. The weekend regular-season showcases culminate every year with the T1ER Dixon Cup Playoffs in Michigan.
Thanks to its affiliation with the NAHL and weekend showcase events scheduled so that many NAHL coaches, scouts and general managers can attend, more than 30 NAPHL T1ER players already have signed NAHL tender agreements this season.

Tier 1 Elite Hockey League Playoffs
The Tier 1 Elite Hockey League (T1EHL) is the one of the top youth hockey circuits in the United States, featuring more than 20 organizations from all over the country. While the league also offers a similar, but less extensive, format for younger teams, the 14U, 15O, 16U and 18U member members are in Blaine, Minn., for the T1EHL Playoffs Feb. 13-16.
The league holds multiple showcase-style weekends in various locations throughout the season at which its members and other guest teams come together to complete their regular-season schedules. These events are heavily scouted by junior coaches and scouts representing all tiers of junior play in the U.S. and Canada as well as by NCAA college coaches. The T1EHL season culminates each year in February with playoffs held at the sprawling National Sports Center in Blaine.
With a track record of moving large numbers of players on to higher levels of play annually, the T1EHL provides an opportunity for AAA youth teams from all over the United States to supplement their usual local or regionalized league seasons by competing at the highest level in additional games that maximize their players’ exposure.
This year’s T1EHL playoffs began the morning of Friday, Feb. 13, and run through Monday, Feb. 16. Each age group features 16 teams competing for league titles in Championship divisions, with the remaining teams that did not qualify playing consolation games. Thus, everyone still gets to participate in front of the scouts one final time.
For Championship play, the age groups are divided into four-team pools, with every team playing the other team in its pool in a three-game preliminary round to determine Sunday’s playoff matchups. All championship games will be played Monday, Feb. 16.
The 16U Championship Division has three of the top six USA Boys Tier 1 teams, according to the Week 21 MHR Rankings.
National Sports Center is serviced by LiveBarn, so T1EHL Playoff games should be available for live or on-demand viewing.
