Ottawa District Peewee & Atom AA Team Changes

Many people have noticed that I started ranking Ottawa District Peewee and Atom (squirt) AA teams in the Ontario AA rankings this season. I was lobbied hard last year by a few people who thought that these Ontario AA teams should be ranked with other Ontario AA teams, not AAA teams. They cited a number of reasons and eventually agreed. It sounded similar to the argument why the Soo Atom Major team is considered AA (another hot button issue over the years), despite playing some AAA tournaments. So, I agreed and started the 2009-10 season ranking these teams as Ontario AA teams and now it appears things have changed once again and MYHockey is changing is looking to change as well.

MYHockey will move all Ottawa District Peewee and Atom AA teams back to the Ontario AAA rankings - removing them from the Ontario AA rankings on Wednesday, 07-Oct-2009.

Reasons include:

1. Ottawa District Peewee & Atom AA teams appear to be required to play in AAA tournaments this season.
2. Ottawa District Peewee & Atom AA are doing very well in the Ontario AA rankings - too good really
3. Ottawa Valley is the same club at AAA (midget & bantam) and AA (peewee & atom).
4. The Ottawa District will implement AAA hockey down through Atom Major next season - essentially making some of these teams AAA at that time.
