Quebec Peewee Tournament Scores
Each season the Quebec International Peewee Hockey Tournament is a huge event for a hundred plus teams from across North America and the planet. It is more of an event or celebration than simply a hockey tournament. Ten days in Quebec is a huge commitment for 12 year olds and their families.
The emails I get about the games are fairly extensive. This year I reached out to hundreds of MYHockey volunteers and asked for input on the games. My question was, should the scores from Quebec be included? In the past there have been a number of valid reasons stated why these games are "different". My responses this year were split 50/50 on whether or not my volunteers thought these games should be recorded. There is not one right answer. In what might be called a split response, MYHockey has recorded all the official tournament games from the AA divisions. Exhibition games in Quebec will not be recorded. Class "B" and "C" games will only be recorded by request among teams that already exist in the database.
I realize that the approach may appear random, but it is not. One message I received repeatedly was that some coaches did not play all exhibition games to win. The Quebec experience is expensive and time consuming. Teams with a fair amount of difference between the skill of the players often have issues with ice time and there are times when that creates problems. Quebec, with the expense and time commitment required, and with the nature of the event, definitely changes some of the rules. Each team and coach views these things differently and that is where I feel the need make a rule that incorporates these issues. If you have questions or issues, send me an email at director@myhockeyrankings.com. By the way, congrats to the Honeybaked 95 AAA team, tournament champions.
