Help Us Select the Best Games of the 2023-24 Season

In the tradition of past offseason features such as our MYHockey Rankings logo and jersey contests and last summer’s Play of the Year and Save of the Year contests, we are excited to announce that we will be unveiling the MHR Games of the Year for the 2023-24 North American hockey season this summer.

We will be posting a list of the games that we deem to be at least the five best of the 2023-24 campaign, but the list could grow to as many as 10 if we receive enough nominations. Depending on the number of games selected, we will announce either one or two games per week beginning the week of July 15.

Although we become aware of highly competitive, dramatic games that occur during the course of each season, we aren’t always privy to all of the details and circumstances that truly make a game exciting and memorable enough to be part of a list like this. Because of that, we are relying on our members, followers and the rest of the North American hockey community to nominate any games that they feel are deserving of consideration.

For a game to be considered, it must meet the following criteria:

  • The game can feature boys or girls teams and must have been contested by teams in age groups ranging from 11U to 19U (no mites or squirts).
  • There must be proof via an electronic or scanned scoresheet or a result posted on our website that the game was played between Aug. 20, 2023 and April 15, 2024.
  • The game must be an officially sanctioned contest with a result that was recorded in our system.
  • There must be video of the game available. The whole game does not have to be available, but there should at least be enough clips that we can post representative highlights.

If you have a game that meets those criteria and would like it to be considered, please email the following information to scott@myhockeyrankings.com:

Date played

Location (rink and city/state)

Participating teams (exact team names, their classification or level and accurate age groups)

Name of league or tournament (or non-league game)

Final score

Legible scanned photo of scoresheet or link to electronic scoresheet

  • If neither is available, please email us a typed scoring summary that includes goals, assists, times of goals, shots, saves and accurate spellings of names for the players who had goals and assists as well as the goalies.

Video clips or highlights from the game or links to the full game video

  • Please provide descriptions for clips if possible (goal scorers, game situation, time of goals, etc.).

Set the scene

  • Was there something that made this game special no matter the outcome (championship game, tournament elimination game, playoff game, rivalry game, etc.)

Game description and details

  • An audio, video or written description of the game action and details about what made the game so great.

Coach/player reaction

  • Quotes from participants or a way to contact participating players and/or coaches to get quotes about the game.

Additional relevant information

  • Send us anything that supports your case.

Nominations will be accepted starting immediately, with a final cutoff date of July 8. If you aren’t able to send everything that we’ve requested, just do your best to get us whatever you can to paint the picture as clearly as possible. Access to at least some video is important, but it doesn’t have to be over the top.

The plan is to announce a game or two from the final top five or top 10 each week via our social media accounts and to post an accompanying story and video package about each game that makes the list.

At the end of the day, the goal is to recognize very best games of the year, and whatever you send us and any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
