Ontario Hockey Federation Championships

The Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) Minor Hockey Championship is three-day event that determines OHF Champions at the U13 A, AA, U15 A, AA and U18 A, AA categories.

The 2022 OHF Championships are scheduled for April 22-24. Five teams participate at each of the OHF Championships. The participants are the minor hockey member partner championship teams from the Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario (Alliance), Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL), Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA) and the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) in each age group plus host teams.

Ontario U13 & U15 AAA Championships

The Ontario Championships are a provincial championship for the U13 AAA and U15 AAA division, including teams from all three Hockey Canada branches within the Ontario: Hockey Eastern (HEO), Hockey Northwestern Ontario (HNO) and the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF).

Ontario Hockey Leaugue (OHL) U16 AAA Cup

The 2022 OHL Cup featured  he top 20 U16 AAA teams from Ontario and the United States. The showcase took place from March 30 to April 4, with all games being played at the Scotiabank Pond in Toronto. The Championship game was played at Mattamy Athletic Centre on Monday April 4.

Champions and finalists from the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL), Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA), Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario (ALLIANCE), along with representatives from Hockey Northwestern Ontario (HNO), and the Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA) were scheduled to compete along with two representatives from the United States.

Championship Game

Michael Misa had a record night, powering the wild-card entry and MHR top-ranked Mississauga Senators to a 6-2 win over the second-ranked Toronto Jr. Canadiens in the 2022 OHL Cup championshp game April 4 at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.

A big crowd witnessed the first-ever Championship Final hat trick and five-point performance as Misa, an underage forward,  broke Connor McDavid’s 2012 showcase record, claiming MVP honors with 20 points (10-10–20) in seven games.

 

 

Ontario Central Region U18AAA Championship

The Central Region U18 AAA Championship, part of the TELUS Cup U18 Canadian national club championship tournament, includes teams from two of the three Hockey Canada branches within Ontario: Hockey Eastern (HEO) and the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF). Champions from the ALLIANCE, GTHL and OMHA – as well as the HEO champion – compete with the champion from the Northern Ontario Hockey League for the right to represent the Central Region in the TELUS Cup. 

This years Central Region 18U AAA Championship was played April 4-10 at Scotiabank Pond in Toronto and was hosted by the Toronto Young Nationals Hockey Club.

Mississauga Reps

The champion from Hockey Northwestern Ontario competes in the West Region of the TELUS Cup qualifier against the Manitoba and Saskatchewan U18 AAA league champions.

The Central Region U18 AAA Championship always is completed two weeks prior to the start of the TELUS Cup, which this year is slated to run from April 18-24. The Alberta and British Columbia champs compete in the Pacific Region, while champions from Quebec leagues compete in the Quebec Region and the Maritime league champions participate in the Atlantic Region Championship.

Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario Championships

The Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario (Alliance) held its U13 and U15 AAA Boys championshps April 1-3, with the champions in each age group advancing to the U13 and U15 All-Ontario Championships. The older age-group chapionships took place in March at various Ontario venues, with U16 and U18 champions being crowned by the end of the month. 

 

Alliance U18 Boys AAA Championship

The Alliance U18 Boys AAA Championship took place at various Ontario venues between March 8 and March 28, concluding with a championship series featuring the 34th-ranked Huron-Perth Lakers defeating the No. 35 London Knights, four points to two (two games to one) in a best-of-three series. The champs earned the right to compete in the Central Region Champioship for an opportunity to advance to the Telus Cup club national-championship tournament starting April 18.

Alliance U16 Boys AAA Championship

The Alliance U16 Boys AAA Championship took place at various Ontario venues between March 9 and April 15, concluding with a championship series featuring the fifth-ranked London Jr. Knights defeating the No. 8 Brantford 99ers, by sweeping the best-of-three showdown.

Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) Championsips

The OMHA Championships are scheduled during three weekends – March 25-27, April 1-3 and April 8-10. The U12 through U18 AAA Boys championships will be held in Oakville, Ontario March 25-27 and April 1-3.

Round-robin play occurs during the first two days, with the semifinals and championship games set to take place on Sunday.

On the girls’ side, the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association will hold its provincial championship tournaments April 7-10 at various locations around Ontario.

Hockey Eastern Ontario Boys

The Hockey Eastern Ontario U18 AAA boys' league crowned it's champion recently, while the U13, U14 and U15 AAA playoffs finished up March 30.  

 

HEO U18 AAA (Ontario Boys Rankings)

The fourth-ranked Nepean Raiders swept the No. 7 Navan Grads in their best-of-five series, 3-0, to claim the NEO 18U AAA championship and earn a spot representing the league at the Central Region Championships hosted by the Toronto Young Nationals April 4-10.

 

Here is a recap of the series:

GAME 1 – NEPEAN 5, NAVAN 0

Nicholas Larkin, Treyson Dewar, Brayden Melenhorst, Grayden Robertson-Palmer,and Luka Benoit scored, with Dom Amodeo making 17 saves to earn the shutout.

 

GAME 2 – NEPEAN 5, NAVAN 3

Nicholas Larkin scored twice, while Treyson Dewar, Brett Hammond and Will Hughes each potted a goal and Jaden Cholette made 18-saves to push Nepean out in front, 2-0, in the series. Danik Marion, Nathan Villeneuve and Sam Glover, scored for Nepean and Mathis Mainville had 25 saves. 

 

GAME 3 – NEPEAN 4, NAVAN 0

Luka Benoit had two goals, with Luke Posthumus and Cole Beaudoineach tallying once as Nepean clinched the title. Dom Amodeo made 21-saves for his second shutout of the series, while Owen Wilgos stopped 33 pucks for the Grads.

  

 

HEO U15 AAA (Ontario Boys Rankings)

Fifth-ranked Myers Automotive defeated the No. 8 Ottawa Jr. 67's, 6-1, to clinch the U15 HEO championship April 2. Myers won the series, 8 points to 2 to advance to the OHF Championships April 11-15.

HEO U14 AAA (Ontario Boys Rankings)

These five teams competed for the HEO U14 AAA championship:

The No. 11 Cyclones knocked off 14th-ranked Myers Automotive, 7 points to 1, but both teams advanced to the OHL Cup to be held April 14-16 in Oakville, Ontario.

These four teams competed for the HEO U13 AAA championship:

Ontario Female Postseason Roundup

The Ontario Women’s Hockey Association (OWHA) is the governing body for female ice hockey in Ontario and is a member of the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF.) It governs all levels of female hockey in Ontario at a provincial level. The OWHA Provincial Championships are scheduled for April 7-10 in the greater Toronto area.
