2015-16 Week #29 Rankings Released
MYHockey has released it's Week #29 rankings. This week our primary updates include results from the Ontario Provincial Championships and the NCAA D1 Mens Frozen Four.
As most of you who have been around the site for any length of time know, I'm a big fan of college hockey. The games this past weekend were a great showcase of the game and I must admit I was happy to see the University of North Dakota (UND) win it's first national championship in more than a decade. While all four teams in the Frozen Four would have been worthy and great champions, I'm particularly happy about the UND victory because I grew up just a short drive from its campus... and because I've found the NCAA's approach to the UND nickname particularly disheartening over the past decade. The fact that former coach Dave Hakstol and current coach Dave Berry both essentially referred to the team as the Sioux was not lost on my ears. For most fans of UND, they will always be the Fighting Sioux, despite the recent forced adoption of the Fighting Hawks nickname. Before I digress into the entire story/issue, let me backup and congratulate the University of North Dakota on its NCAA Mens D1 National title!
