2013-14 Week #23 Rankings Released

As February winds down, we release Week #23 rankings this week. With the recent completion of the Quebec International Peewee Tournament, one question has come up repeatedly over the past week. When is a tournament team the regular season team and when is it not?

The MYHockey policy for the better part of the past decade has been that any team that contains 2 or less new players for a tournament weekend can be considered the regular season team. It does not matter how many rostered players fail to show up, it only matters how many players who are not normally rostered on the team play for the team. So, when three or more players are added to the roster of a team, it's a unique team. In past seasons, a number of Quebec-bound teams reliably formed tournament specific teams made up of kids from a number of regular season teams. Teams like the New Jersey Devils may have some players from the New Jersey Devils 01 AAA team, but the roster does not qualify as the full-season team. There is a tournament specific team in MYHockey labeled "New Jersey Devils (Quebec) 01" that can be used if your team played the New Jersey Devils in Quebec (or even as a pre-tourney warm-up game).

MYHockey does not go out and research team rosters in general. We rely on people involved with the teams to assist with these issues. In theory, one could argue that roster issues need to be researched on all 200,000+ game scores in the system. But with the large number of roster issues with Quebec teams, we do not actively go out and encourage or enter game scores from the event.

Good luck to all on league, state/provincial playdowns!
