Many youth leagues have either started playoffs or are in the final stretches of the regular season and will be looking to start playoffs in the coming weeks. For those of you who are on teams that are struggling, think of the long term benefits of persevering to the finish. Coasting never helped anyone grow and never developed the character of a winner. For those of you on teams that are doing well, I encourage you to stay focused. Years from now these are some of the memories that will keep you warm at night. Best of luck! The NHL season has just started. Despite thinking I didn't care, I do find myself watching games and highlights. Yes I do care about hundreds of millionaires who play the sport and oversee highest levels of the sport I love. We see a number of teams that were expected to do well that are struggling and we see a number of surprises. Some of these trends may last through the end of the season, but many will eventually slide back in line with expectations as the season wears on. At both the NHL level and at the youth level, it's not really about how you start the season, it's about how you end it. Push hard until the final buzzer of the season and enjoy the stench of your hockey equipment.
