MYHockey Proudly Announces Tournament Listing Page

Tournaments are often the highlight of a team's season. Most competitive teams plan or schedule their tournaments before their regular season games. They leave open certain dates hoping to qualify for certain tournaments on those dates. And end-of-the-season tournaments, especially those of the State, Provincial or National Championship variety, can form a memory that lasts a lifetime.

MYHockey has created a list of competitive tournaments for years. These are tournaments MYHockey volunteers watch and record scores from. Tournaments are a great source of information for MYHockey and are a key to the rankings. Last season, tournament winners were even recognized on MYHockey. This list of tournaments, however, has never been published to the general public. When asked late last season why, I had no good answer.

With that background, MYHockey is releasing its Tournament Listings page. Unfortunately, it is not a perfectly complete list. It is fairly well populated and I continue to add tournaments daily (from the list of competitive tournaments I recorded scores from last season). It also allows anyone to request that a tournament be added. For those running tournaments, there is no cost. This is a service to everyone interested in youth hockey. It is part of the reason why MYHockey exists.

Right now the list is pretty basic. You can not yet sort by state or level, although those sound like great enhancements I should start planning now. OK, I have now added them to my list of site improvements that I am working on. Back to the list, this list will also be used by MYHockey volunteers as the list to locate tournament results. Website addresses are important. Please search for your tournament in the list (the list is sorted by start date right now) and then scroll to the bottom and click on the list to request a tournament be added if you do not find what you are looking for. You do not need to be affiliated with the tournament in any way.

Not all tournaments are applicable. Tournaments on the list have to be applicable for some set of teams that can be found on MYHockey. The general rule is that the tournament should be for AAA or AA teams. However, exceptions abound. California its best squirt teams "A". There is no AA or AAA. Similar exceptions apply elsewhere. So the best rule of thumb is that if competitive teams from MYHockey are or should be registered for the tournament, it belongs on the list. This will help us locate scores and recognize tournament winners.

Best of luck to your team in its tournaments for the 2007-08 season. I hope the MYHockey Tournament Listings page can help you locate the competition you are looking to play.
