2014-15 Week #22 Rankings Released

Week #22 Rankings have been released. This week we added another 9000 game scores after another big tournament weekend. As I have done previously, I strongly encourage you to review the list of games credited to your favorite teams because tournaments are a common thread when it comes to games being applied to the wrong team.

On an unrelated note, the passing of Steve Montador hit me kind of hard this week. Steve Montador was a 35 year old veteran of 10 NHL seasons. All indications are that he took his own life after suffering from the effects of numerous concussions. Montador was not the classic example of an NHL fighter (like Derek Boogaard). When healthy, he was a solid defensemen who had over 20 points in 4 consecutive seasons. For many, I am sure that I am splitting hairs, but Montador was a solid NHL player who earned his way into the league by being an all-around asset to his team. Someone you might have your son or daughter look up to and/or strive to be one day.

Concussions are serious business. I speak for those of us who have seen its significant impact on our children. No amount of on-ice success is worth the tremendously short 35 year life that Steve Montador lived. As we get into playoff season, don't push your child to play unless fully recovered from the effects of any head injuries. Support those who are honest with themselves and medical professionals by acknowledging the long term impacts that some concussions can cause. Be sure that there is a full recovery before resuming sports.
